Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel untersucht, wie viel Aufmerksamkeit die Spitzenkandidaten im Vorfeld der Wahlen in sozialen Medien, dem länderübergreifenden Nachrichtenblog Euractiv.com und Druckausgaben von Tageszeitungen aus Irland, Frankreich, den Niederlanden, Deutschland und Italien erhielten. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Spitzenkandidaten 2019 nicht wesentlich mehr mediale Aufmerksamkeit erhielten als 2014. Die Sichtbarkeit stieg auch 2019 mit fortschreitendem Wahlkampf und folgte in den verschiedenen Medien einem ähnlichen Muster. Dennoch variierte die Sichtbarkeit je nach Land und Spitzenkandidat.
