Zusammenfassung
2014 setzte sich das Europäische Parlament (EP) erstmals mit seiner Interpretation des Vertrags von Lissabon bei der Wahl des Präsidenten der Europäischen Kommission im sogenannten Spitzenkandidatenverfahren durch. Allerdings blieb unklar, ob diese Politisierung – eine verstärkte politische Auseinandersetzung über zuvor nicht politisch behandelte Sachverhalte – auch dauerhaft bestehen würde. Dieser Beitrag zeigt, dass in der Personalbesetzung der Kommission 2019 tatsächlich eine fortschreitende Politisierung zu beobachten ist, diese sich jedoch anders als 2014 absehbar entwickelt hat.
