Zusammenfassung

Suizid zählt in den westlichen Ländern zu den zehn Haupttodesursachen bei Jugendlichen stellt sie gar die zweithäufigste Todesursache dar. Der Suizid erweist sich somit als ein gravierendes gesellschaftliches Problem. In dem folgenden Beitrag wird zunächst geklärt, was unter Suizidalität zu verstehen ist, hierbei werden epidemiologische Befunde zur Suizidalität vorgelegt. Festzustellen ist, dass je nach Land und Altersgruppe die Suizidraten stark variieren.
