Zusammenfassung
Im Jahr 2014 diagnostizierte Werner Wirth einen Mangel an Auseinandersetzung mit Fragen der Rezeption in der kommunikationswissenschaftlichen Infotainment-Forschung, den er mit einer Konzeptualisierung von Infotainment als komplexem Rezeptionsphänomen zu beseitigen suchte. Dazu definierte er Infotainment-Erleben als „gleichzeitiges, konvergentes und positiv valenziertes Metaerleben von hedonistischen und/oder eudaimonischen (affektiven) Unterhaltungsgefühlen einerseits und (kognitiven) Informationsgefühlen wie beispielsweise Gefühlen des Informiert-Seins, des Informiert-Werdens oder der Vertrautheit andererseits“ (Wirth, 2014, S. 80).
