Zusammenfassung
Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs schickten die Engländer fast täglich Bomber über den Ärmelkanal. Ein Unterfangen, von dem nicht alle Piloten lebend zurückkamen. Der Begriff des Überlebensirrtums (Survivorship Bias) geht dabei auf die Arbeit englischer Ingenieure zurück. Denn diese wollten die Panzerung der Flugzeuge verbessern und somit die Überlebensrate der Piloten steigern. Folglich analysierten sie die Einschusslöcher der zurückgekehrten Maschinen und verstärkten an diesen Stellen die Panzerung.
