Zusammenfassung
Die Auffälligkeitsverzerrung (Salience Bias) beziehungsweise wahrge-nommene Auffälligkeit (Perceptual Salience) beschreibt die Situation, dass wir uns stärker auf außergewöhnliche und einfach wahrnehmbare Informationen konzentrieren, als auf weniger hervorstechende Merkmale. Sie hängt sehr stark mit der Intensität, Neuigkeit und Bedürfnisrelevanz des Reizes ab. Besonders anfällig sind gegensätzliche Ausprägungen, so etwa das berühmte schwarze Schaf in einer Herde weißer Schafe, ein Europäer/Amerikaner in Asien, der die Einheimischen aufgrund seiner Körpergröße überragt et cetera. Neben äußerlichen Merkmalen können es aber auch emotionale oder geistige Merkmale aus Sicht der jeweiligen Person sein, die eine Auffälligkeit wahrnimmt.
