Abstract
The article is dedicated to interactive digital 3-D testimonies that have been developed for several years. Here, the project “(New) Dimensions in Testimony” of the USC Shoah Foundation is described. The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie is closely linked to the development of interactive digital 3-D testimonies. As the work of the Shoah Foundation in California can be seen primarily as development, Skokie is the place where testimonies are tested, permanently presented and integrated into the educational work of a museum. Furthermore, the work at the National Holocaust Centre and Museum in Nottingham (Great Britain) is outlined and the peculiarities of the „virtuellen Zeitzeugengespräche“ (“virtual contemporary witness interviews”) that are to be found there, are thematised. Finally, the Munich project “Learning with digital testimonies” (LediZ), which develops German-language interactive digital testimonies, will be described in more detail. The basic theoretical and methodological assumptions of the development will be revealed and the development process from question generation and filming to the creation of the interactive digital 3-D testimonies will be described. The article ends with an outlook on important research questions.
