Zusammenfassung
Die gegenwärtigen globalen wirtschaftlichen Entwicklungen sind durch eine zunehmende Dynamik und Anspruchsbildung gesellschaftlicher, marktbezogener sowie technologischer Faktoren geprägt und haben zur Folge, dass Unternehmen in einem Spannungsfeld zwischen divergierenden Kundenanforderungen und wirtschaftlicher Effektivität stehen. Damit hat eine bessere, günstigere und schnellere Produktionserstellung stark an Bedeutung gewonnen (vgl. Wiedmann, 1996a, S. 6; 1996b, S. 234; 2006, S. 2; 2007, S. 9). In diesem Umfeld ist die Generierung innovativer Produktlösungen zu einem signifikanten Faktor geworden, den bestehenden Herausforderungen zu begegnen, indem Wettbewerbsvorteile aufgebaut werden, um den Unternehmenserfolg nachhaltig sicherzustellen (vgl. Yeh et al. 2010, S. 132; Porter/Kettels 2003, S. 15; González/Palacios 2002, S. 98; Brown/Eisenhardt 1995, S. 344; Capaldo et al., 2003, S. 343; Rodriguez et al., 2002, S. 143, Tidelski, 2002, S. 659).
