Zusammenfassung
Medienpolitik und Media Governance beschäftigen sich mit internationaler und nationaler Politikgestaltung und sind in der feministischen Medienforschung erst zögerlich aufgegriffen worden. Wesentliche Impulse zur Förderung geschlechtersensibler Medieninhalte und Medienproduktion kamen zuerst von feministischen Bewegungen und wurden in der Folge in Empfehlungen und Dokumenten von nationalen und internationalen Organisationen aufgegriffen. Als Wendepunkt für eine feministische Medienpolitik gilt die Vierte Weltfrauenkonferenz, der eine Reihe internationaler und nationaler Maßnahmen wie etwa das weltweite Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP), die Aktivitäten der International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), des Europäischen Instituts für Geschlechtergleichheit (EIGE) oder der Global Alliance on Media and Gender (GAMAG) der UNESCO folgten. Obgleich diese Aktivitäten immer umfangreicher werden, geht die Umsetzung in den nationalen Medienpolitiken noch sehr langsam voran.
