Die italienische Schriftstellerin Oriana Fallaci löste durch die Veröffentlichung eines vierseitigen Artikels in die Tageszeitung Corriere della Sera nach dem Attentat von 11. September 2001 eine Kontroverse um MuslimInnen aus. Die für die Medien intendierten Aussagen waren dabei nicht nur der Anlass für eine gewaltige internationale Kontroverse, sondern erfolgten zugleich im Vorfeld der Veröffentlichung ihres gleichnamigen Buches, das zum Bestseller werden sollte.
