Zusammenfassung
Gleichviel, ob eine »Ubiquität des Dokumentarischen« konstatiert oder lediglich darauf verwiesen wird, dass dokumentarische Praktiken in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten im Kunstkontext immer wichtiger geworden sind, die Aussagen beruhen auf der Beobachtung einer grundlegenden Veränderung. Sie könnte, mit etwas wehmütigem Unterton, aus Sicht der Filmwissenschaft formuliert werden als die Vermutung, »dass der traditionelle Dokumentarfilm seinen Rang als privilegierte und konkurrenzlose Beobachtungsinstanz verlieren wird« – oder sie schon verloren hat – zugunsten eines neuen Feldes, in dem Dokumentarisches in verschiedenen Medien und künstlerischen Praktiken wie Performance, Installation, Fotografie oder Bewegtbild unter dem Vorzeichen des Kunst- anstatt des Kinokontextes neu verhandelt wird.
