Zusammenfassung
Haben politische Skandale und Wirtschaftskrisen einen Einfluss auf die Wahlkampfführung? Müssten Kampagnenstrategien in Zeiten steigender Arbeitslosigkeit nicht anders aussehen als solche, die in einem positiven ökonomischen Klima entstehen? Intuitiv würde man diese Fragen bejahen. Sicher dürften Wahlkämpfer ihre Entscheidungen an solchen für die Wähler zentralen Umständen orientieren – erst recht wenn man annimmt, dass Kampagnenplaner rationale Strategen sind, die jeden Vorteil gegenüber dem politischen Gegner auszunutzen suchen und sich dafür an der Wählernachfrage orientieren. Diese Rationalitätsannahme findet sich in der politikwissenschaftlichen Literatur häufig.
