Zusammenfassung
Soziales Zusammenleben kann nicht zureichend als Kommunikation und Kooperation unter freien und gleichen Individuen verstanden werden. Denn in Gesellschaften, in Organisationen und in Gemeinschaften werden Macht- und Herrschaftsverhältnisse wirksam, die zu ungleichen Chancen zur Durchsetzung eigener Interessen führen. Ausgehend von Max Webers klassischen Definitionen erläutert der Beitrag zentrale Konzepte sozialwissenschaftlicher Theorien über Macht- und Herrschaft. Weiter wird die Bedeutung von manifester und latenter, direkter und struktureller Gewalt als Mittel zur Etablierung und Aufrechterhaltung von Macht und Herrschaft diskutiert.
