Zusammenfassung
Die Erlebniswirtschaft unterscheidet sich in ihrem Innovationsverständnis von demjenigen der Industriewirtschaft. In diesem Teil der Wirtschaft entsteht Neues nicht durch zielgerichtete Verbesserung irgendwelcher Problemlagen, sondern neue ästhetische Erlebnisse tragen ihren überraschenden, sinnlich erfahrbaren Wert in sich. Der Aufsatz rekapituliert wichtige Stationen in der Debatte um die Institutionalisierung der Kreativ- oder Erlebniswirtschaft während der vergangenen 30 Jahre. Dabei werden die empirischen Konturen der rasch wachsenden Bedürfnisse für ästhetische Erlebnisprodukte nachgezeichnet. Das Wachstum wird der Verknüpfung zwischen der Sogkraft ästhetischer Erlebnisse und den Möglichkeiten ihrer kommerziell codierten Bereitstellung zugeschrieben. Es gibt also gute Gründe, beim Blick auf die Innovationsgesellschaft auf das selbstbezogene Treiben der Sehnsucht nach Erlebnissen zu achten.
