Zusammenfassung
Wenn man sich in einem Gedankenexperiment vorstellt, dass die Wissenschaft als Vorbild für demokratische politische Verhältnisse dienen könnte oder sollte, ergeben sich zwei grundlegende Überlegungen, wie die Wissenschaft oder die von ihr produzierten Erkenntnisse diese gesellschaftliche Funktion erfüllen können. Auf der einen Seite steht die Hoffnung, dass sich die Wissenschaft als Produzentin von Formen rationaler Erkenntnisse und einer großflächigen Dissemination dieser Erkenntnisse in der Gesellschaft als Motor der Entwicklung von Demokratie erweist.
