Zusammenfassung
Der Essay setzt sich kritisch mit jüngeren Entwicklungen in der Organisationssoziologie auseinander. Er beobachtet und deutet Tendenzen der Schwächung des Organisationsbegriffs als Folgeprobleme von Erfolgen, die sich mit dem Konzept der Organisation verbinden. Neben inflationären Tendenzen, die als Folge des populären Erfolges des Konzepts der Organisation auch innerhalb der Soziologie gelesen werden, werden deflationäre Tendenzen ausgemacht. Sie betreffen die Banalisierung, Entspezifizierung und/oder Verabschiedung des Begriffs der Organisation innerhalb der Organisationssoziologie selbst. Die besondere Bedeutung dieser deflationären Begriffsentwicklungen wird darin gesehen, dass sie sich im Rahmen prominenter Theorieansätze vollzieht bzw. namhafte Autoren für diese Vorschläge stehen.
