Zusammenfassung
Außer nachts, wenn alle Katzen grau sind, ist unsere optische Wahrnehmung durch Farben gekennzeichnet. Wir verwenden Farben zum Schmuck, zur Kenntlichmachung und Markierung, aber auch beispielsweise beim aus der Chemie bekannten Lackmustest, zur Detektion. Stoffe erscheinen farbig, wenn sie Licht bestimmter Wellenlängen absorbieren. Damit dies möglich ist, müssen Farbstoffe geeignete Energieniveaus besitzen. Wie diese Niveaus in unterschiedlichen Systemen zu Stande kommen, ist Gegenstand dieses Kapitels.
