Zusammenfassung
Reklame ist ein Phänomen, das sich in spezifischer Weise in der Neuzeit entwickelt hat. Sie kann die Funktion einer Werbung für Konsumgüter und Dienstleistungen haben, für kulturelle Ereignisse und Angebote, für politische Parteien und weltanschauliche Richtungskämpfe, für Sportveranstaltungen und Zirkus. Reklame nutzt das jeweils gegebene Niveau der Kommunikationsmedien, um die anvisierten Zielgruppen zu erreichen. Bis in die Weimarer Epoche hinein wurden die Begriffe Werbung, Reklame und Propaganda synonym benutzt, erst durch die Propaganda der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur erhielt der letztgenannte Terminus einen stark pejorativen Charakter.
