Zusammenfassung
Die „klassische“ Kostenrechnung ist eine Periodenrechnung. Sie erfasst die innerhalb eines Zeitraums (i. d. R. Monat oder Jahr) angefallenen Kosten und verrechnet sie auf die in der selben Periode hergestellten bzw. verkauften Erzeugnisse. Diese periodenbezogene Betrachtungsweise gibt die Lebenszykluskostenrechnung zugunsten einer periodenübergreifenden Sichtweise auf. Sie versucht, einem Produkt die während seines gesamten Lebenszyklus anfallenden Kosten („von der Wiege bis zur Bahre“) zuzurechnen (vgl. folgende Abbildung).
