Abstract
In the last section a single particle state was defined as a state which is permanently singly localized. How does this geometric characterization relate to the more common one which associates single particle states with the discrete part of the mass spectrum? For the case of a theory with a minimal nonvanishing mass this has been discussed by Enss. He finds that in this case the two characterizations are equivalent if the theory satisfies a compactness requirement [Enss 75]. We indicate the argument.
