Abstract
As discussed at the beginning of Section 3–2, X-linked loci are of particular interest and usefulness in human, mouse, and Drosophila genetics. We shall confine ourselves to discrete nonoverlapping generations; for the continuous time theory, the reader may refer to Nagylaki (1975c). In Section 7.1 we present the general formulation for selection and mutation with multiple alleles. We discuss the dynamics of selection with two alleles in Section 7.2, and treat multi-allelic mutation-selection balance in Section 7–3. The formulation of selection at a multiallelic autosomal locus in a dioecious population closely resembles the theory for X-linkage; we leave it for Problem 7.3.
