Zusammenfassung
Das Wachstum der vielzelligen Organismen setzt in der Regel eine Vermehrung der Zellzahl über Zellteilung voraus. Bei Pflanzen finden diese Teilungen hauptsächlich in den Meristemen statt. Während tierische Zellen sich durch Einschnürung der flexiblen äußeren Membran abteilen, entsteht bei Pflanzen die Trennwand zwischen den beiden Tochterzellen durch de-novo-Bildung in der Teilungsebene. An der Regulation des Zellcyclus sind bei Pflanzen ganz ähnliche Proteinkinasen und Cycline beteiligt wie bei Tieren und Pilzen.
