Summary and Evaluation of the Workshop “Numerical Simulation of Compressible Viscous-Flow Aerodynamics”

  • Conference paper
Symposium Transsonicum III

Summary

The present paper describes the transonic DFVLR-F5 wing experiment which has been designed to provide the data needed by the computational analyst for code validation purposes. Thus, the experimental data allow to formulate analytically the corresponding boundary value problem for the integration of the Navier-Stokes equations. Based on the experiment a workshop took place. Results of the numerical simulations are compared with each other and with the experimentally observed data, to date only pressure measurements. The discussion of the comparisons and of the difficulties associated with the numerical simulations leads to suggestions for further experimental and theoretical work.
