Abstract
The structural complexity and wide distribution of terrestrial and aquatic molluscs is reflected in highly diverse modes of reproduction: from primitive broadcast spawning and external fertilization to involved patterns of courtship behaviour, internal fertilization, and internal embryonic development. Spermatophores are frequently encountered amongst Gastropoda and Cephalopoda.
