Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to study the elastic equilibrium of an anisotropic, homogeneous and continuous medium bounded internally by a cylindrical surface of arbitrary cross section. The medium is subjected to body and surface forces. The work of Lekhnitskii (1963) is heavily referenced and used as a guide line for the present analysis. His model is extended to include the influence of a boundary stress component parallel to the hole axis.
