Wir betrachten jetzt abstrakte Reduktionssysteme und studieren ihre wesentlichen Eigenschaften. Bei speziellen Anwendungen, z.B. Termersetzungssystemen, lassen sich diese Eigenschaften weiter spezialisieren und zum Teil effektiv testen.
