Abstract
This conifer has a deep root system. Its crown varies considerably in shape and size. Trees reach average heights of 15 to 20 m and can, in extreme wind conditions, be dwarfed. From the bark exudes a clear, intensely odorous resin. The stems rarely have diameters larger than 60 cm. In the western part of its area, Abies balsamea hybridizes with Abies lasiocarpa.
