Zusammenfassung
Die Bedeutung von Hirnmetastasen in diagnostischer und therapeutischer Hinsicht kommt zum Ausdruck, wenn man bedenkt, daß deren Inzidenz mit zunehmender Lebenserwartung des Tumorträgers durch Erweiterung des therapeutischen Spektrums inwischen bei 3 bis 12/100 000 der Bevölkerung/ Jahr liegt und damit in der Nähe der primären Hirntumoren rückt, deren Inzidenz mit 7 bis 15/100000 angegeben wird [12]. Der Häufigkeit nach rangieren Hirnmetastasen des Mammakarzinoms mit 20% bereits an zweiter Stelle nach dem Bronchialkarzinom [3,8,16]. In Autopsieserien warden zentralnervöse Metastasen beim Mammakarzinom in 15–30% der Fälle beobachtet [6,14], wobei infratentorielle Metastasen fast ebenso häufig sind wie supratentorielle [22] und 40–50% der Metastasen solitär auftreten [10].
