Abstract
This chapter begins with the description of the dissipation and diffusion effects in the presence of waves (Sect. 6.1). We relate dissipation to the mean field which is generated by the medium perturbation in the range of zero wavenumber that appears due to resonant nonlinear interaction of waves with finite amplitudes (Sects. 6.1,2). Diffusion effects are examined by using the example of ambipolar diffusion of F-layer ionosphere plasma in the presence of an internal gravity wave in the upper atmosphere (Sects. 6.2,3). The generation of fine structures is considered with the influence of dissipation in Sects. 6.4,5.
