Abstract
The state of the art of automated manufacturing described in the preceding sections and the possibilities of versatile computer-aided engineering are the preconditions for even more complex solutions of automation. With examples from several industrial countries it has been demonstrated that even for small and medium-sized batch production a relatively broad basis of flexible automation and computeraided engineering has been established.
