Zusammenfassung
Kognitive Dissonanz wird von FESTINGER (1957, 1958) als Motivationszustand konzeptualisiert, weil das Auftreten kognitiver Inkonsistenz die Aufnahme bestimmter Verhaltensweisen nach sich zieht. Die Motivationsproblematik fand allerdings in der Forschung zur Theorie insgesamt relativ wenig Aufmerksamkeit. Einerseits, weil FESTINGER (1957, S.276 f.) die Ansicht vertrat, daß Motivationsprobleme sich von Problemen, mit denen sich die Dissonanztheorie befaßt, unterscheiden, und andererseits, weil FESTINGERs Konzeption der den Dissonanzreduktionsprozessen zugrundeliegenden Motivation wohl der unklarste Bestandteil der Theorie ist.
