Abstract
These methods require the taking of soil monoliths and separating the soil from the roots by washing. This can be done directly in the field, but generally the soil samples are transported to a special washing place. These methods are frequently applicable for investigation where the aim is to make a quantitative determination of the roots, but in many cases this is supplemented with visual pictures.
