Abstract
There are two concepts of the mechanism of CSF absorption in mammalians:
-
1/
Most of the light- and electron-microscopic studies suggested that CSF passes the endothelial layer of the arachnoid granulations and villi by pinocytosis or through intercellular spaces (1,2,3).
-
2/
In contrast, some light- or electron-microscopic studies (4,5,6,7), and most of the instillation and perfusion tests (5,6,8,9), seemed to demonstrate, that there are open communications for CSF passage between the subarachnoid space and the sinus lumen.
