Abstract
Up to 1970 nearly 350 DTA publications on carbonates have been published (after Webb and Krüger). A survey of the differential thermal analytical behaviour of the most important carbonate minerals is given by Cuthbert and Rowland, Beck (1950), Földvari-Vogl, Spotts and Smykatz-Kloss (1964). Besides the description of the DTA characteristics of several minerals (e.g. cerussite: Warne and Bayliss; huntite: Faust, 1953; hydromagnesite: Caillère, 1943a,b; carletonite: Chao; manasseite: Ross and Kodama etc.), above all the Ca-Mg-Fe-Mn carbonates have been studied over and over again, since the analysis of these minerals involves a lot of problems reflected in major differences of their DTA curves.
