Abstract
Activities practised with the patient sitting provide a good opportunity for stimulating the muscles controlling the trunk. Moving the patient, or asking him to move sideways, forwards or backwards will mean that his body becomes the “tentacle” as described in Chap. 2. The muscles on the uppermost side of the trunk in relation to the pull of gravity will be activated, either to move the body actively against gravity, to hold it in a position or to control the speed of movement in the direction of gravity.
