Zusammenfassung

In einer allgemeinen Systematik empirischer Wissenschaften kann man die Naturwissenschaften (in der Medizin speziell die Biowissenschaften), die Sozial- und Verhaltenswissenschaften sowie die Geistes- bzw. Kulturwissenschaften unterscheiden. Zu den Sozial- und Verhaltenswissenschaften werden üblicherweise Ökonomie, Politikwissenschaften, Soziologie und Psychologie gezählt. Soziologie ist dasjenige Gebiet der Sozialwissenschaften, das sich mit der Erforschung von Strukturmerkmalen und Entwicklungsdynamik menschlicher Gesellschaften bzw. Vergesell- schaftungsprozesse befaßt. Wie jede Wissenschaft läßt sich auch die Soziologie anhand bestimmter Merkmale charakterisieren:
