Abstract
To date, only incomplete information is available about details of the systematic composition of most tropical ecosystems or particular functional types. There are still relatively few published works dealing with the taxonomic composition of major components of tropical ecosystems (lianas Gentry 1991; epiphytes Madison 1977 and Kress 1989), which is apparently due to their unparalled diversity and complexity.
