Abstract
All measurements have the ultimate goal of creating information. Measurements are also the basis for new bioprocess development. The study of cell metabolism and regulation would be impossible without reliable analytical methods. Furthermore, process optimization and control are also based on reliable measurements. Bioprocess analyzers have the fundamental task to provide the information for optimizing microbial growth, yields, and product quality. Therefore, measurements are not only a key issue in modern process development, but they also open the door to process supervision and control, and avoid restricted views when analyzing processes just through a keyhole.
