Zusammenfassung
Ziel jeder chirurgischen Tumortherapie ist die komplette Entfernung (UICC R0-Resektion) des Tumors. Mehr als die Hälfte der Patienten mit gastrointestinalen Tumoren werden jedoch mit bereits lokal fortgeschrittenen Tumoren den Kliniken zugewiesen. Aus diesem Grund prägen multimodale Behandlungsansätze, das heißt ein Zusammenwirken von Chirurgie, Chemotherapie und Strahlentherapie in einem Therapiekonzept, heute zunehmend die Tumortherapie. Eine möglichst exakte Abschätzung der Tumorausbreitung ist somit für die Wahl des optimalen Therapieprinzips entscheidend.
