Zusammenfassung
Die transurethrale Resektion der Prostata (TURP) ist die führende Therapie der benignen Prostatahyperplasie (BPH) und gilt als »Goldstandard«. Bottini nutzte bereits 1876 galvanischen Strom zur Blutungskontrolle [3], doch die Methode konnte sich damals noch nicht durchsetzen. Der kalte Punch wurde - zunächst ohne optische Kontrolle - das Instrument zur TURP. Strom konnte zur Koagulation verwendet werden. Durch die Nutzung von Strom (zunächst galvanisch, später hochfrequent) wurden Schlingen zu Schneideinstrumenten. 1931 wurden von Stern und McCarthy Resektoskope entwickelt, die den hochfrequenten Strom zum Schneiden und Koagulieren verwendeten [22,37]. Dieses Prinzip liegt der TURP bis heute zugrunde.
