Tabellen sind eine kompakte, geordnete Form für Ergebnisse und Werte. Abbildungen erlauben oft die vereinfachte Darstellung von Abläufen und Funktionszusammenhängen. Diagramme schließlich sind eine komprimierte Darstellung von Entwicklungen, Abhängigkeiten oder Relationen. Sowohl in Publikationen als auch in Präsentationen sind sie ein nützliches Element, um Zusammenhänge schnell erfaßbar und diskutierbar darzustellen.
