Zusammenfassung
Bei vielen Personalreduktionen steht das Schicksal der Mitarbeiter, die ihre Stelle verlieren, im Vordergrund. Die Reaktionen jener Beschäftigten, die ihren Arbeitsplatz behalten können, sind für Öffentlichkeit und Management kaum ein Thema. Dies ist erstaunlich, prägen doch die Emotionen, die Einstellungen und das Verhalten der Verbleibenden — welche in den USA und in Großbritannien als Survivors bezeichnet werden — die Zukunft der personalreduzierenden Organisation entscheidend mit. Verbleibende oder Survivors sind somit jene Angestellte, die während eines Personalabbaus nicht extern freigesetzt werden und weiterhin über einen Arbeitsplatz bei der gleichen Organisation verfügen. Unter dem Begriff der Survivorproblematik wird die Tatsache verstanden, daß viele Verbleibende einen Personalabbau nicht einfach nur zur Kenntnis nehmen und unbeeindruckt weiterarbeiten, sondern mit vielfältigen, für die Organisation oft negativen Reaktionen darauf antworten.
