Abstract
Femtosecond laser pulses are modified in a pulse shaper and optimized iteratively by a learning evolutionary algorithm in order to reach specific optimization goals in coherent control experiments. The significance of the electric field structure is investigated by reducing the search parameter space. Correlation experiments with secondharmonic generation (SHG) reveal a high degree of problem complexity.
