Abstract
A combination of Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy and Infrared (IR) spectroscopy was used to characterize the uranium complexes formed by different bacterial strains of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans isolated from uranium mining waste piles, and by some reference strains relevant to the predominantly distributed in the wastes Pseudomonas stutzeri, and Pseudomonas migulae. The results demonstrated that all these bacteria accumulate uranium as phosphate compounds with different structural parameters.
