Zusammenfassung
Die Empfindlichkeit gegenüber externen Störungen wie beispielsweise Hochwasser, Hitzewellen, Tsunamis oder Wirbelstürme ist in den sensiblen Stadtökosystemen sehr hoch. Stadtökosysteme sind auch durch ihre offenen Stoffkreisläufe generell verwundbar. Speziell wird dargestellt, welche Auswirkungen der vorhersehbare Klimawandel auf Städte haben wird und wie ihnen entgegen gewirkt werden kann. Es wird darüber hinaus aufgezeigt, welchen Problemen gerade Stadtökosysteme unter dem Aspekt des globalen Wandels ausgesetzt sind und welche Konzepte für eine Minderung der Verwundbarkeit denkbar sind. Dem Aufbau von urbaner Resilienz wird besondere Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet. Stadtstruktur, Stadtgröße und Stadtregion werden hier mit Fallbeispielen besonders in den Blick genommen.
