Zusammenfassung
Der Typ-1-Diabetes ist gekennzeichnet durch eine progrediente Zerstörung der insulinproduzierenden B-Zellen in den Langerhans-Inseln des Pankreas. Es besteht ein Insulinmangel mit einem Insulinmangelsyndrom, das sich in der Regel rasch entwickelt und dabei schon relativ bald zu hohen Blutglukosewerten und den klassischen Symptomen Polyurie, Polydipsie, Ketoazidose und Gewichtsverlust führt. Die intensivierte konventionelle Insulintherapie (ICT) mit mehr als 3 Injektionen am Tag oder die Insulinpumpentherapie haben sich als Standardtherapie des Typ-1-Diabetes in Mitteleuropa in den letzten 30 Jahren durchgesetzt.
