Zusammenfassung
Polymere oder makromolekulare Verbindungen sind Stoffe die durch die chemische, hauptvalenzmäßige Verknüpfung von mehreren Einzelmolekülen, den Grundbausteinen, entstanden sind. Diese können entweder alle identisch oder aber verschieden voneinander sein. Sind alle Grundbausteine gleich, so spricht man von Homo polymeren, im anderen Fall von Copolymeren. Periodisch sich wiederholende Molekülgyruppierungen aus zwei oder mehreren Grundbausteinen bezeichnet man als Strukturelemente.
