Zusammenfassung
Nach der Definition ist eine Schiffahrtsschleuse ein Bauwerk, das in einem Fluß oder Kanal zwei Wasserflächen verschiedener Spiegelhöhe durch eine verschließbare Kammer miteinander verbindet. Zur Schleusenanlage gehören neben dem eigentlichen Schleusenbauwerk noch der obere und untere Vorhafen für wartende Schiffe und in Schiffahrtskanälen meistens noch ein Pumpwerk.
