Abstract

This paper presents an approach for error recovery in operating systems with division of labour between cooperating processes. It is proposed to replace a process which has become unfit for work by a new incarnation. Its communication partners conserve information about the services performed by the old incarnation. This information is used to adjust the state of the new incarnation to the state of the other processes. The approach is suitable for error cases confined to one process.

Diese Arbeit entstand im Teilprojekt A4 -Struktur von Betriebssystemen und ihre Verpflanzung- des Sonderforschungsbereichs 49, Elektronische Rechenanlagen und Informationsverarbeitung München.
