Dans les systèmes physico-chimiques complexes, 1’interconnection des sous-systèmes fait généralement intervenir des éléments d’accumulation destinés à découpler partiellement ces sous-systèmes, en évitant que les perturbations se transmettent directement de l’un à l’autre, et à faciliter ainsi leur conduite simultanée. En effet les débits d’entrée et de sortie d’un bac peuvent être momentanément différents sans qu’il y ait solution de continuité dans le fonctionnement du système.
